Central Lane Scenario Planning: Reducing Transportation Greenhouse Gas Emissions

According to the EPA, the transportation sector accounts for nearly 30% of greenhouse gas emissions in the US; more than half of those emissions are produced by passenger cars and trucks. The Eugene-Springfield region is conducting scenario planning to identify strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from light vehicles while providing for improved equity, economic development and health outcomes.  When the scenario planning process is complete, the local governments – the cities of Coburg, Eugene and Springfield and Lane County – will be able to use the results to make voluntary changes to transportation and land use plans.  A Greenhouse Gas Toolkit has been developed as a resource for reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions.
